The current UK record is 2267, so we'll need to recruit well over this to make sure we get that elusive title and bring it home to Britain's North West Red Rose County of Lancashire - Britains northern home of rock 'n roll music.
Whatever numbers of musicians appear on the day to attempt this record, we are certain to break at least one record.. That is.. "The Biggest Assembled Rock Band In The North of England.
We're in the initial planning stages so suggestions and comments are more than welcome right now. Meanwhile, here's a few bits and pieces to kick you off thinking how Lankykats are gonna build the dream - and do it! 'Let's rock together..'

The standard of musical competancy and prowess is aimed at a very basic level and will suit pro's and ham's and will require no more than playing three chords. You can bring a drum as long as you play in time.
The venue will be The Adlington & District Carnival, located in Chorley, Lancashire, which has strong connections to the fab rock 'n roll history of the Northwest of England.
The date will be Saturday 12 July and the record attempt will be held at approximately 5: 00pm with a dummy-run warm up just before. Afterwards.. for the more advanced players; we'll play 3 or 4 more songs.
Please bring a folding chair to sit on - otherwise it's gonna be a long afternoon standing..
The Event will initially include a live concert commencing at 1: 00pm with seven bands strutting their stuff and then we'll have the Grand Finale' hosted by Gerry Sandon of the band Gerry's Hatrix, whereupon - we'll break that UK record. Then we'll have a party...
Access to the Adlington Carnival Jubilee Playing Fields is by Official Programme only, bought at £3 each in advance or £4 on the gate, that is up to 4: 00pm Saturday! Children under 12 go free. The Programme gives access to all three Carnival days.
At 4: 00pm the gates will be opened to allow free and open access thereafter. So if you're a muso', please go straight to the registration gazebo and get your official Lankykats BARBOE wrist band for a £1... Pronto! You'll need to officially register as a means of accurate number counting to break that record.
Registration can be made at any time during the day, before or after the record attempt. There will be no other charges/fee's involved at any stage except the £1 standard Lankykats registration fee at the venue. You will need to officially register as a means of number counting towards the record.
Funds raised on the day will be donated to the charities and worthy causes named above.
All the organisational work will be undertaken by Lankykats and Adlington Carnival volunteers and they too will always need extra helping hands - so if you fancy it - please let us know.
The live concert starts 1:00pm when the Carnival Procession ends it's tour of Adlington Village.
Seven Lankykats bands are featured, each playing a 35 minute set to entertain you.

'A message from the man who did 'it' (GOTB) first..'
Great to hear from you Bill.
This record is official in that nobody has done it in the UK before, therefore technically if we'd had a band of 200 guitarists it would have been the biggest, because nobody had done bigger.
It's only the UK record though; the US did 1,859 in 2009 in Texas, the Germans did around the same number about the same time - but the Poles hold the world record. They drew over 7,000 guitarists some years back and that is the Guinness record. Guinness don't recognise national records, just the world ones.
I would absolutely LOVE it if you launched a North-West Lankykats effort. I had a tap- up recently from ABC TV in Sydney, they want to do a GOTB Oz and I am trying to encourage that. My thinking, my aim, is to get GOTBs going on all over the place - I'd like to swing it that there's mass guitar bands playing in Poland, Texas, Australia, Germany, the North West on the same day.
It's great fun and the way I see it, it's good for us. Not only does it achieve the dream of a lot of people of finally 'being in a band' but it brings out the smiles in people, and that has to be good.
